OUR BEGINNINGS
LiveWell CNY Physical Therapy was founded upon inspiration from a poster hanging on the wall of a yoga studio in which I was practicing. I had already felt the beginnings of a calling that I needed to start a different type of PT practice- one in which we could spend whatever time was needed with our clients to listen to their story and develop goals for how they wanted to be able to fully live their life. I envisioned a practice in which your treatment plan was no longer dictated by what your doctor or insurance company thought was best but rather what YOU want to achieve.
One day while watching TV, I heard a commercial marketing bladder leakage pads that stated, "light leaks are just a natural part of being a woman" and that incredibly ignorant marketing ploy sparked my interest in pelvic floor PT because I knew that there has to be a better option for women than wearing pads the rest of their life. Overtime, that spark became a fire as I witnessed through my own personal experience and through the experience of other close women in my life what a gap there is in women’s healthcare and how frequently pelvic floor conditions are dismissed as “a consequence of childbirth or being a woman”. As a practicing Doctor of Physical Therapy with no formal education in business or marketing, the idea of starting my own practice seemed daunting; yet the thought of the women out there who were seeking this type of practice and an escape from the traditional medical model kept nudging me that I needed to do it- for YOU!
